Arsenal set sights on Wolves striker Diogo Jota as Mikel Arteta plans summer transfers

Arsenal are tracking Wolves striker Diogo Jota ahead of a possible move this summer.

The Gunners are ready to see several faces come and go as Mikel Arteta plans to shape his squad.

Doubts continue to swirl over the futures of attacking duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette leading the north London club to make contingency plans.

Jota has been hugely impressive for Wolves since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2017.

He has seamlessly made the transition from the Championship to the Premier League and is now on Arsenal's shortlist, reports the Daily Mail .

The Gunners are thought to be eyeing wide forwards and Jota has proved his effectivenesss at Wolves in a front three.

His versatility has also seen him play alongside Raul Jimenez, another player who could attract plenty of interest this summer.

Jota has scored 43 times for Wolves in a little under three seasons at Molineux - that includes back-to-back hat-tricks in this year's Europa League.

Should the Portuguese striker move on then Atletico would be due a portion of any fee.

That may not be the only dealing Arsenal have with the Spanish side as they also consider a move for Thomas Partey.

The combative midfielder is a hugely influential figure for Diego Simeone's side and would cost north of £40m.

But Arteta may look to make changes to his midfield with the likes of Lucas Torreira and Mateo Guendouzi fighting for position.

The former was linked with a move to Italy under the previous regime while the young Frenchman has allegedly clashed with Arteta since he took over.

Arsenal had a tight budget last summer with Unai Emery having to cleverly negotiate deals.

But one player who will arrive at the Emirates is defender William Saliba, the Frenchman who has spent the last year on loan at Saint Etienne.
