Arsenal 'set sights' on transfer for Serbia winger as double departure lined up

Arsenal have wasted no time in being active in the January transfer window, with a number of departures already approved.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has joined Roma on loan for the remainder of the season and Folarin Balogun is poised for a similar move to Middlesbrough.

Mikel Arteta's attention could now shift to incoming transfer dealing but there's still plenty of speculation regarding exits.

In terms of incoming business, Calciomercato states that Arsenal are among a host of clubs to have 'set their sights' on Eintracht Frankfurt's Filip Kostic.

Inter Milan are said to also be interested in the player, as a potential replacement for veteran defender Aleksander Kolarov, and a fierce battle could emerge in the hunt for Kostic's services.

Fiorentina, Lazio, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and West Ham are also attributed with an interest in the Serbian, who has 18 months remaining on his contract.

Elsewhere, another report from Calciomercato highlights that a number of Serie A sides are interested in Arsenal's Cedric Soares.

Sampdoria, Udinese, Torino and AC Milan are all said to be considering a deal but it's made clear that Arsenal would be required to cover some of his wages.

Finally, it's stated there is 'concrete interest' from Turkish sides in Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny but the lack of depth in midfield is an issue.

Arsenal are said to be likely to bring in new faces before approving any departures, while Elneny is also on duty with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.
