Arsenal set new asking price with chiefs 'confident' of completing first summer transfer

Arsenal have been told how much they will have to pay to sign Yves Bissouma this summer.

That's according to the latest reports, with Brighton hoping to get every last penny out of one of their star men amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

According to The Sun, Brighton want £40million to begin having conversations about the midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window and that they have already begun lining up possible replacements.

The Seagulls appear pretty clear they are going to lose the 24-year-old ahead of next season and with evident demand, they have slapped a price tag on the midfielder worth more than double what Transfermarkt value him at (£15.3million).

But value is as much as someone is willing to pay, and impressed by what Bissouma has to offer, Arsenal and Liverpool might just be willing to pay it.

The Daily Star recently reported that Arsenal are 'confident' of landing Bissouma - but only for a £30 million fee, and they are already well aware that they may have to pay another big sum for a midfielder having spent £45million on Thomas Partey last summer.

There may be some room for wiggle, given Brighton are not going to be able to extend Bissouma's contract beyond 2023, meaning this is the peak point for the Seagulls to get a fee from their key midfielder.

Though, Arsenal would risk losing out to the likes of Liverpool if they were to hesitate in getting the deal done swiftly this summer.

Bissouma has been with Brighton since his 2018 move from Lille when the Seagulls paid around £15million for his services.

He has since racked up 84 league appearances, proving key in Brighton protecting their Premier League status.

Graham Potter's men remained in the top flight again ahead of next season, but it appears they will have to manage that feat again next season without Bissouma, but perhaps £40million better off.
