Arsenal set for huge windfall as former Gunner closes in on AC Milan switch

Arsenal may have gone into the summer with a £45million transfer kitty, but it seems that those funds could be boosted in the coming days.

The Gunners look set for a financial windfall with the news that Ismael Bennacer is set to complete a move to AC Milan.

The Empoli midfielder spent two years in north London before moving to the Italian side.

As part of that deal, Arsenal negotiated both a buy-back clause and a reported 30 per cent sell-on clause for any future fee.

Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that a deal for Bennacer to move to Milan is getting closer, with the 21-year-old set for a fee of €16million plus €1million in add-ons.

While the Gunners haven't taken the option to buy back the 21-year-old, they're still on track to bag themselves around €5million from the deal as part of the sell-on.

It may not sound like a huge amount, but that windfall could be hugely beneficial.

Arsenal are in the market for numerous additions including a centre-back, a left-back, a midfielder and a winger, meaning that it could be a very expensive summer for the Gunners.

However with just £45million to spend, it could be very tricky to attract the stars to whom they're used to targetting.

Key targets such as Kieran Tierney and Wilfried Zaha are expected to cost significant funds, meaning that any potential additions to the transfer budget could prove pivotal as Unai Emery looks to build his squad.
