Alexandre Lacazette's injury-time equaliser salvaged a crucial point for Arsenal after the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace saw the Gunners rise to 12th in the Premier League.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring for Mikel Arteta's side and looked as if Arsenal would return to London Colney with three points but Christian Benteke had other ideas.
The Belgian giant wriggled beyond Gabriel Magalhaes to pull one back for Patrick Vieira's Eagles until former Arsenal transfer target Odsonne Edouard then fired Palace ahead.
Arsenal's top-ten target may now be out of reach despite Lacazette's injury-time equaliser.
Tom Canton spoke to football scouting expert Josh Williams on The Arsenal Way to discuss where the Gunners are likely to finish if they continue to teeter on the edge of losing tactical battles against lesser opposition.
Williams kickstarted the discussion by claiming how Arsenal will benefit from their absence in European competitions this season.
"It's difficult with Arsenal, when it comes to them this season they will massively benefit from playing once every week," he began.
"In terms of where they'll finish - it's difficult - sixth to 10th, maybe to ninth but in that region. Based on the last five result, although they're unbeaten, there's been very fine margins between these performances so it's difficult. It can go either way really."
Canton then agreed with Williams, claiming he is also in a similar ballpark and noted how the correlation of goals to points don't put Arsenal in great stead.
"I'm in a very similar ballpark to yourself. If you listen to the talk about goals corresponding to the number of points, it's a really strong theory," he began.
"You can't see Arsenal breaking away from or getting into the 60s points based off what we've seen so far. You could see them getting into the mid 50s but that is just so far and away from where Arsenal need to be.
"With the competition for places [in the Premier League] as well this season it's so close. If Arsenal had won they would have gone miraculously two points off top four and that shows how tight it can be at times.
"I predict Arsenal will finish just outside the top six. To miss out on top six for three seasons in a row is a very difficult position for the club to justify keeping the coach."
