Arsenal set Ben White medical date after agreeing £50m transfer with Brighton

Ben White will have his Arsenal medical around July 26 after the Gunners finally agreed a fee with Brighton.

The centre-half will cost the north Londoners £50m as they look to bolster their defensive options.

Arsenal had seen offers of £40m and £47m knocked back by the Seagulls before they reached a breakthrough in negotiations.

Brighton will now receive £50m up front without any add-ons and have also inserted a release clause.

White attracted plenty of interest last summer following his efforts during a loan spell at Leeds.

Brighton rebuffed offers for the 23-year-old, but now look set to cash in, reports the Daily Mail.

White's efforts at the Amex last term saw him called up to the provisional England squad and then included in the final Euro 2020 group after Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury.

Arsenal have seen David Luiz leave this summer after his contract expired whilst William Saliba has, once again, headed out on loan.

Mikel Arteta is looking to make serious moves in the transfer market after a poor season that saw the Gunners miss out on European football.

Gabriel was signed last summer and has been a regular in defence with any new arrival likely to pair up with him.

Arsenal are in Scotland at a training camp having played games against Hibernian and Rangers.

They will travel back to London this evening before flying to America early next week to take part in the Florida Cup.

Arsenal and Arteta have made an addition off the pitch with the arrival of first-team coach Nicolas Jover from Manchester City.

“Yeah we had a situation in the summer with Andreas, where he had the possibility to leave to his country,” the Spaniard said.

“He had different reasons to do that and I understood that situation, so we needed to recruit somebody.

“After looking through what the best solution would be, a person that I know was on the market, was available, is someone whose expertise are incredibly useful and valuable for us.

“He’s joining us. His name is Nicolas Jover and I’ve worked with him before at City.”
