Arsenal sent clear message in pursuit of Wilfried Zaha as time runs out in transfer window

Arsenal need to pay the money and sign Wilfried Zaha now because time is quickly running out in the transfer window.

That's the opinion of Sam Allardyce, who has accused the Gunners of 'messing around' and says Zaha would be a massive success in north London.

Arsenal are keen on landing the former Manchester United forward, but Crystal Palace want £80million for their prized asset.

The Gunners are looking to pay around half of this fee and still want to complete a deal for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, who would set them back £25m.

The transfer for Zaha is looking increasingly unlikely as a result, and Allardyce has warned if the deal doesn't happen this summer it never will.

"Pay the money! Wilf is in his prime now and there's not too many like him about," said Allardyce on talkSPORT.

"I think he's so ready and I hope Steve [Parish] isn't calling me for saying this, but it's Wilf's time. If he doesn't go very shortly then he never will and Arsenal really need to stump the money up.

"If Manchester United are having to pay £90m for a centre half, which is what they're looking at in Leicester's Maguire then Wilf's £70-80m is worth it today in the market.

"He's proven he can be a massive success at Arsenal. Arsenal are trying to mess around. Pay the money, time's running out and the window's going to shut."
