Arsenal sent clear £100m Declan Rice transfer message as Man City pull out of race

The Declan Rice transfer saga has dominated the first few weeks of the summer window.

Arsenal have been actively pursuing a deal for the England international since West Ham United won the UEFA Europa Conference League, beating Fiorentina 2-1, earlier this month. Since then, the Gunners have seen two bids rejected by David Moyes' side, who were holding out for a nine-figure offer.

Manchester City then officially joined the race on Monday evening, lodging a bid of their own, which was also turned down by the east Londoners. Arsenal responded last night by submitting a club record offer worth £100million plus an additional £5million in add-ons, football.london understands.

That offer is said to have resulted in the Citizens pulling out of the race to sign the England international, with West Ham and the Gunners planning to enter more negotiations today as they look to reach an agreement over the structure of the move with the length of the payment of the fixed £100m fee the remaining issue, football.london understands.

There has been considerable discussions from fans and pundits alike about whether or not Rice is worth that kind of fee. So, football.london has decided to run a poll asking readers what the 24-year-old's true transfer value is.

Thousands of people have responded so far, with 45% backing £100million as a fair price for the Hammers skipper. 17% voted that he was worth £110million, 16% decided he should be valued at £90million whilst 10% placed the tough-tackling midfielder at £80million.

6% claimed he should cost £120million and 6% voted for 'other', meaning a price not listed in the £80million-£120million region.
