Arsenal send sarcastic message to Liverpool after defeat to Watford

Liverpool's hopes of going the full 2019/20 Premier League season unbeaten were dashed on Saturday evening, losing 3-0 to Watford at Vicarage Road .

The Reds entered the contest boasting a 44-game unbeaten run in the league, knowing that they required just four more victories to guarantee themselves the Premier League title.

But Watford left Jurgen Klopp's side stunned, scoring three second half goals without reply, ending Liverpool's hopes of matching Arsenal's invincible season in 2003/04.

And it has not taken Arsenal long to remind Liverpool that they will not be matching the Gunners' famous record this term, sending a couple of sarcastics tweet in their direction following the full-time whistle in Hertfordshire.

Responding to Liverpool's tweet about the full-time result, which, of course, came as a huge shock to everyone, Arsenal said: "Congratulations on a formidable run, @LFC."

Whilst the Gunners' tweet may immediately seem as a sporting gesture, congratulating Klopp's team on what has been a remarkable run, it is bound to contain some sarcasm, with the Gunners' class of 2004 remaining the only side in history to go an entire Premier League season unbeaten.

And that was not the only response Arsenal issued in a sarcastic sense, also tweeting: "Phew...," implying that they were relieved to have seen Liverpool's unbeaten run finally come to an end.
