Arsenal have completed their fifth signing of the summer, sealing a transfer for Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United.
football.london revealed back in May that technical director Edu was determined to add a goalkeeper to the ranks this summer to offer current No.1 Bernd Leno some competition between the sticks.
The Gunners had previously held an interest in Ajax shot-stopper Andre Onana before turning their attention to home-grown options, with Ramsdale identified as the number one target.
Talks between the two clubs were progressing deal until football.london disclosed last week the details of a meeting between Arsenal and United which resulted in the north Londoners walking away from the deal due to the Blades' £40million asking price.
However, things soon changed as football.london revealed that a £24million fee was agreed on Wednesday after our sister title Yorkshire Live confirmed that a deal had been 'completed in principle' earlier that day.
Ramsdale is Arsenal's fifth signing of the summer following deals to bring in Nuno Tavares, Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Martin Odegaard which now leave the Gunners' summer spending at around £130million, the most of any club in the Premier League.
The England under-21 international has already been training with his new teammates, taking part in a session on Friday at London Colney.
Arsenal confirmed that Ramsdale is in contention to make his debut for his new club when they take on Chelsea at the Emirates this Sunday.
"The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes, at which point Aaron will be available for Sunday’s match against Chelsea," a statement on the club website read.
