As quickly as it began, Arsenal's Carabao Cup campaign came to an end on Wednesday night as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Brighton at the Emirates Stadium. A much changed Arsenal side were not exactly terrible, but with the likes of Reiss Nelson failing to fully convince, it has raised questions over what the Gunners may do in the January transfer window.
"I said from day one that we have a short squad because at the end we left some players," Mikel Arteta admitted after the game in his press conference. "It’s what we have. If everyone’s available and no one is injured we are OK, but the moment there is, we know what it is. It’s nothing new."
Midfield, left centre back and the forward line could be a priority for the Spaniard, but before that he has a World Cup break to contend with. Arsenal will be travelling out to Dubai for a couple of warm up friendlies against Lyon and AC Milan at the Al-Nassr Stadium, as Arteta takes a sizeable group with him to stay fit during the break while the World Cup goes on in Qatar.
