Gabriel Martinelli, John-Jules & the 10 Arsenal wonderkids included in US pre-season tour squad

Following surprising events on Thursday morning, Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny is not in the squad for the pre-season tour to the United States.

Amid his desire to have his contract at the Emirates Stadium ripped up to facilitate a return to France this summer, the 33-year-old has refused to go on tour.

In a statement the club said: "Laurent Koscielny has refused to travel to the US for our pre-season tour.

"We are very disappointed by Laurent’s actions, which are against our clear instructions.

"We hope to resolve this matter and will not be providing any further comment at this time."

With that said, Unai Emery has taken a number of Arsenal's talented youngsters with him to the United States, with teenager Bukayo Saka included in the squad.

The winger made his senior debut last season and was even among the substitutes for the Europa League final defeat by Chelsea back in May, but his inclusion in this squad does provide hope of being involved more next season.

Joining Saka in the squad is fellow wonderkid Tyreece John-Jules who netted twice in a pre-season friendly against Boreham Wood at the weekend.

Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith Rowe, Joe Willlock and Eddie Nketiah - now fully fledged first-team players - are also in the squad alongside Zech Medley, Robbie Burton, Konstantinos Mavropanos, James Olayinka, Dominic Thompson and summer signing Gabriel Martinelli.

Sokratis and Granit Xhaka are also flying out as is the likes of Carl Jenkinson, Calum Chambers, Nacho Monreal, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Emiliano Martinez and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Injured duo Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding have also been included.

Also absent from the travelling squad is talented Xavier Amaechi.

He too was also on the bench in Baku, but there has been no development in regards to his future and with his contract expiring next summer it's not looking too good at the moment.

Arsenal's 29-man squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Leno, Martinez, Macey

Defenders: Bellerin, Jenkinson, Chambers, Sokratis, Mustafi, Holding, Mavropanos, Medley, Monreal, Kolasinac, Thompson

Midfielders: Maitland-Niles, Willock, Xhaka, Burton, Olayinka, Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Nelson, Smith Rowe, Martinelli, Saka

Forwards: Aubameyang, Lacazette, Nketiah, John-Jules
