Arsenal's two Premier League records that Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool could break this season

Liverpool’s surge towards the Premier League title continued at the weekend after Jurgen Klopp’s side edged out Brighton at Anfield.

A first half brace from Virgil van Dijk was enough to help the Reds to a 2-1 win, despite seeing goalkeeper Alisson sent off with just under 15 minutes remaining.

The win maintained Liverpool’s unbeaten start to their domestic campaign, and they are currently on course to match the feat last achieved by Arsenal in the 2003/04 season.

Going unbeaten in their 38 league matches, the Gunners won 26 games and drew 12, winning the title by 11 points.

Since then, Pep Guardiola's current Manchester City side have smashed the record for the most points in a single campaign with 100 points in the 2017-18 season, but no team has managed to achieve what Arsene Wenger’s side did.

But this isn’t the only record of Arsenal’s that Liverpool could break this season.

Saturday’s 2-1 victory was their seventh 2-1 win this season, taking them to within three of Arsenal's record during the 2003/04 season.

Wenger’s side managed to claim 10 that season, but with 24 games still to go in the league season, and with Liverpool looking like the complete force, you wouldn’t bet against Klopp’s side breaking both records come May.
