Arsenal's true net spend for 2019 summer transfers revealed - including ins, outs and loan deals

The transfer window is officially closed and won't open again until the new year.

Of course, deadline day for Premier League clubs was on the eve of the new season while clubs from across Europe had until September 2 to get deals done.

Now that the dust has settled, football.london has taken a look at the business Arsenal were able to get done.

In total, six new faces have arrived in north London this summer and the Gunners splashed out £66.8m on Gabriel Martinelli, Dani Ceballos, William Saliba, Nicolas Pepe, Kieran Tierney and David Luiz.

Furthermore, they recouped £56.4m in sales meaning the Gunners' net spend was £10.4m based on fees that are guaranteed rather than add-ons or options that have yet to be triggered.

If all the add-ons based on appearances and success are met then Arsenal's outlay for the deals done for William Saliba and Nicolas Pepe in the summer of 2019 will rise to £141.7m.

The total for outgoings could rise to £64.9m if Mohamed Elneny joins Besiktas permanently next summer as well as if add-ons for Krystian Bielik, Dominic Thompson and Alex Iwobi are triggered.

This sum would have been higher had more players accepted moves away from the Emirates Stadium.

Mesut Ozil was once again linked with a departure, but there wasn't any real interest in the playmaker and Fenerbahce released a statement stating that they could not afford him.

Meanwhile, head coach Unai Emery repeatedly told Shkodran Mustafi that he was free to leave.

The German defender hasn't made any of Arsenal's matchday squads so far this season and was linked with a shock deadline day move to reigning Serie A champions Juventus.

Although, nothing materialised - just like links to AS Monaco and AS Roma - so he looks set to remain at the Emirates until January at the very least.

How Mkhitaryan's move to Roma will impact on Arsenal's youngsters

Arsenal did receive a nice £2.8m loan fee from AS Roma for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and a reported £2m from Leeds United for the services of highly-rated youngster Eddie Nketiah for the season.

Overall, the general consensus is that it was a very good summer for the north London and much of the praise has gone to Head of Football, Raul Sanllehi.
