Arsenal's stance over Emi Buendia transfer explained as Odsonne Edouard nears move from Celtic

Here is your Arsenal morning digest on Monday, June 7.

Gunners' Buendia stance revealed

Arsenal were 'seriously' interested in Emi Buendia, football.london understands.

Aston Villa look set to sign Buendia after the Midlands club matched the Gunners' £30million offer for the Argentine playmaker.

At this stage, it's unclear whether the north London club launched a second bid for the Norwich City star, however, it is evident that Villa's proposal appealed to Buendia more than Arsenal's.

Martin Odegaard remains the main target for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta looks to bring him back to the Emirates Stadium following his loan spell in the second half of last season.

Trippier's Man United transfer message

Kieran Trippier has told his England team-mates that he wants to move to Manchester United, according to the Mirror.

Trippier has been linked with a shock move to Arsenal in recent days, despite his past affiliation with Tottenham.

The report claims that United are interested in the Atletico Madrid defender as they want to provide more competition for the right-back slot, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka rather unchallenged as it stands.

The 30-year-old full-back has reportedly informed some of his England team-mates that he wants to move to Old Trafford, which could come as a blow for the Gunners - with Hector Bellerin wanting to leave the north London club, football.london understands.

Gunners suffer Edouard blow

According to The Times, Leicester City have 'won the race' to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard - who has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Edouard's fine form in the Scottish Premiership has attracted interest from Premier League clubs, with Arsenal among those named as potential suitors for the striker.

But the 23-year-old's decision has now been made, and it is claimed that he will join the Gunners' top flight rivals Leicester City.

The French striker is reportedly set for a reunion with Brendan Rodgers at the King Power Stadium, with the Northern Irishman signing Edouard at Celtic Park from Paris Saint-Germain back in 2018.
