Arsenal's stance on Bukayo Saka contract talks as Borussia Dortmund plot summer transfer

Arsenal supporters have been gearing up for a summer transfer window which could see the departure of a key player.

Club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is fast approaching the final 12 months of his deal at the Emirates Stadium and has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

But could arguably the best of the Gunners' wonderkids also be on the move at the end of the season?

James Benge on Aubameyang's transfer fee, Thomas Partey and Saka's future

According to our friends at the Daily Mirror, teenager Bukayo Saka is a target for Borussia Dortmund.

The report states that the Bundesliga outfit are on the verge of selling Jadon Sancho back to the Premier League in a £100m deal that would see Man United win the race for the England international's signature.

As a result, the winger would need to be replaced at the Signal Iduna Park and that is where Saka's name is being touted despite the fact he's been used at left-back under Mikel Arteta.

It's being claimed that Dortmund have targeted the 18-year-old after being impressed with his goal contributions (3g, 9a) across all competitions this season.

One issue for Arsenal is that they could be powerless to Saka leaving this summer, otherwise they risk losing him for free 12 months later.

And the worry for supporters is that there is no sign he will commit his future to the club anytime soon.

As revealed by football.london earlier in the week, no talks have taken place between Saka’s representatives and the club hierarchy since February.

Arsenal have not been able to tie Saka to fresh terms since he signed his first professional contract, understood to be worth around £7,000-a-week,

However, the good news is that the north London outfit are desperate to keep Saka and would be prepared to offer him a significant pay rise.

Furthermore, Arteta offered a confident assessment of the situation last month, saying: "The club is doing what it has to do and is having conversations.

"We'll get it resolved."
