Arsenal's stance on £50m Ben White transfer revealed amid Man City links and Everton talks

Arsenal fans may have woken up on Friday morning with some concerns regarding their transfer pursuit of Ben White.

Firstly, reports have claimed that Manchester City have entered the race to land the England international, whilst Everton are also said to be keen after appointing Rafa Benitez as their new manager.

In fact, The Daily Mail states that the Toffees have held talks with Brighton over a £50million transfer and would be willing to offer a package that trumps the one offered by Arsenal last week.

Furthermore, the report states that whilst White is understood to be particularly keen on signing for the Gunners, the speed with which Everton have moved since Benitez's appointment this week has impressed him and he has not ruled out a move to Goodison Park.

That could be enough to make some Arsenal fans sweat.

However, things are all under control as football.london understands that a deal for White to join the Gunners is all but complete and is expected to be finalised after Euro 2020.

This stance keeps in line with what Gareth Southgate said regarding his players completing deals after the tournament.

"We are not going to stop phone ringing and cannot control conversations going on in private,” Southgate told reporters at a news conference last month.

"But I think most deals are done at the end of tournaments or in the first week after the end of the season, I would expect any deals to be done after the tournament."

Manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu have always been aware that the Euros were going to make some of their deals trickier this summer and pre-season plans have been made with this in mind.

With that said, the earliest Arsenal could possibly announce White is after this weekend as England are in action against Ukraine in Rome.

Of course, this scenario is only possible if England are beaten.

And if Southgate takes the Three Lions all the way to the final, the Gunners may well have to wait until after July 11 to unveil White as the newest addition to Mikel Arteta's squad.
