Arsenal were at their best on Sunday as they fought back from behind to beat Leicester City 3-1 at the King Power Stadium.
The Gunners' campaign has been a rollercoaster ride, with a lack of consistency ultimately resulting in Mikel Arteta's side hovering in mid-table and adrift of the European spots.
While Arsenal have still had ups and downs in recent months, the performances have improved significantly compared to the first half of the campaign where the club were flirting with the relegation spots.
The turning point for Arsenal came on Boxing Day, where Arteta reverted back to a 4-2-3-1 formation, introduced Emile Smith Rowe into the fray and defeated Chelsea 3-1.
That provided the catalyst for improvement, with Arsenal showing considerable improvements in the months since - and the season would have been far different if these sort of performances had been maintained right from the start.
As shown by TransferMarkt, Arsenal have been among the best performers in the division since Boxing Day - with only runaway leaders Manchester City and surprise package West Ham picking up more points.
In total, the Gunners have secured 23 points in the 12 matches since Boxing Day - winning seven, drawing twice and losing on three occasions.
Those improvements have coincided with declines for some of the clubs currently ahead of them, including defending champions Liverpool, who have picked up just 12 points in the same period.
With Tottenham also among the clubs to have struggled across the same timeframe, Arsenal could have been in the driving seat for a top-four finish had their performances in the first half of the season been better.
It was a trend that was also witnessed last year as Arsenal were unbeaten from new year until the season was halted in March due to the coronavirus crisis, with the Gunners failing to maintain consistency for a longer stretch of time.
