Dani Ceballos is unlikely to remain with Arsenal past the end of this season after spending two years in north London on loan from La Liga giants Real Madrid.
If the Spaniard isn't retained, it is reasonable to suggest that Mikel Arteta will want a midfielder to act as a direct replacement for the 24-year-old who has been a regular in his two years at the club.
But who could the Gunners target in the transfer market as a potential alternative to Ceballos if he eventually returns to the Spanish capital in the summer?
Well, luckily the answer to Arteta's transfer dilemma has already been answered.

Speaking of Arteta, the Spaniard has already begun his preparations for next season after Thursday night's Europa League elimination by Villarreal at the Emirates.
Ahead of his side's match with West Brom, Arteta has stated that he still believes Arsenal can achieve the ambitions he set out for them at the start of his reign.
"I know that we have disappointed a lot of people as well and that really hurts because we wanted to give the best to everything and to everybody," he said.
"But what I think clear in mind is that if we are able to do what we want to do right now there is no doubts that we are going to achieve it. If not I wouldn't be sat here."

Willock matches Rashford record
One Arsenal player who is in the form of his life at the moment is Joe Willock.
The midfielder - on loan at Newcastle United - was on the scoresheet once again on Friday night as Steve Bruce's side shocked Leicester City with a 4-2 win at the King Power Stadium.
Breaking the deadlock by capitalising on a mistake by Caglar Soyuncu to place the ball beyond Kasper Schmeichel, Willock has now scored in four Premier League games in a row.
And as the tweet above points out, he is the youngest player to do so since Manchester United and England star Marcus Rashford did so back in January 2019.
Whether this convinces Arteta to give the 21-year-old another chance next season remains to be seen.
But to have matched Rashford's record shows Willock is on the right path when it comes to being a goalscoring option from midfield.
