Tim Sherwood has blasted Arsenal for overpaying for Nicolas Pepe and says the Gunners should look at Jack Grealish.
Pepe has endured a hit-and-miss first season at Arsenal, netting eight times in 40 appearances in all competitions.
The attacker came off the bench on Tuesday for the last 30 minutes of the Gunners' game against Aston Villa but was unable to inspire a comeback as they fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat.
Villa captain Grealish has been heavily linked with a move away from his boyhood club this summer and he is a player that Sherwood knows well, having previously managed the club.
Comparing Grealish with Pepe, Sherwood argued that the Aston Villa star is worth £100m more than Pepe and that he is the sort of player the Gunners need to sign.
"He's taken some unfair criticism in recent years,” Sherwood said on Sky Sports.
"Anyone who tells me Jack Grealish isn't a top-drawer footballer knows nothing about the game.
"I worked with him every single day, I know what the guy possesses."
He added: "I’ll tell you a club not too far away from them tonight - Arsenal - who could have done with Jack Grealish tonight.
"He's not boring, he's dropped the shoulder, takes it to the opposition, he sees the pass, he creates a melee and releases the ball.
"I didn't see any Arsenal players doing that.
"Arsenal paid £70million for Nicolas Pepe, if he's worth £70million, then Jack Grealish is £170million.
"He makes things happen."
