Arsenal loan signing Pablo Mari drops big hint over his future with message to Flamengo fans

Pablo Mari has penned a heartfelt message to Flamengo supporters after completing his loan move to Arsenal.

The defender has been confirmed as Arsenal's first signing of the January transfer window, after putting pen-to-paper on a loan deal from Flamengo until the end of the season.

Mari helped the Brazilian side win the Serie A title and the Copa Libertadores last season, as well as impressing in the Fifa Club World Cup final against Liverpool.

But the 26-year-old has now joined the Gunners on an initial loan deal until the end of this season for a fee of £4million.

The six stages to a football medical

He is the Gunners' first signing of the Mikel Arteta era after Arsenal initially let three players leave the club on loan early in January.

And the Spanish centre-back has taken to social media to express his gratitude to the fans at Flamengo, having spent the past few months in Brazil after joining the club in July last year.

However, his message hints at it being a farewell to the fans in Brazil, rather than a short-term spell away.

His message reads: "My thanks to the employees, members of the technical committee, companions, and also to the entire RUBRO-NEGRA NATION. You will always be in my memory and my heart. Once Flamengo, always Flamengo. I will continue cheering for great achievements! Gratitude.

Arsenal do have the option to buy Mari in the summer as part of the deal.
