Arsenal's Lucas Torreira transfer stance revealed after AC Milan bid

Arsenal are reportedly willing to consider letting Lucas Torreira leave - on one condition.

According to Italian outlet Sport Mediaset , AC Milan have made a two-year loan offer for Torreira worth £7m and including a £34m purchase option.

Arsenal are said to be pondering reluctantly letting Torreira go after just one season in the Premier League after he sparked speculation over his future with comments about life in England.

But the Gunners have reportedly told the San Siro club they will only be willing to negotiate if the loan deal includes an obligatory purchase clause at the end of it.

Torreira impressed in his first season at the Emirates but claimed he preferred life in Italy in a recent interview.

He joined the Gunners from Sampdoria for £26.5m last summer and former manager Marco Giampaolo has just left to become AC Milan boss.

He has made his former midfield maestro one of his transfer priorities, with former Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis at the forefront of their push to make the deal happen.

Torreira's agent recently admitted the chance to join AC Milan and reunited with Giampaolo could be "something special".

Arsenal are understood to be considering their offer despite being reluctant to let Torreira go - although they will only let him leave if the deal is right.

Milan do have other options, with a move for Real Madrid youngster Dani Ceballos also on the cards which could jeopardise their pursuit of Torreira.

Arsenal are not actively looking to get rid of Torreira despite his recent comments, but they recognise it could be a smart move to cash in if they receive an attractive offer given their limited transfer budget.

A guaranteed fee for Torreira could allow Unai Emery to reinvest elsewhere to try and get his squad back into the Premier League top four.
