Arsenal's Lucas Torreira reveals plan to transfer to his 'dream' club

Arsenal's Lucas Torreira has revealed his desire to one day play for the club of his dreams, Boca Juniors.

The Uruguayan has quickly become a fans' favourite at the Emirates Stadium following his £26.4million move from Sampdoria last summer, and has scored two goals in 42 appearances for the club - one of them in the memorable 4-2 North London derby victory over Tottenham in December.

At just 23, he is likely to have a long career ahead of him with the Gunners, but he seems to already be placing one eye on his future after his career in England has come to an end, with a move to Boca - who he watched lose to rivals River Plate in December's Copa Libertadores final in Madrid - on his to-do list.

Why Matteo Guendouzi could be key in Arsenal's bid for striker

"One day, I want to play for Boca and wear their shirt," he told Fox Sports, via Metro .

"It’s a dream I have had since I was a little kid. It’s no secret, my family and friends know that.

"I was with several friends [at the Copa Libertadores final]. I did not think I was going to suffer so much, I lived it with a lot of nerves.

"It was not as we wanted, but reaching the final is not for anyone. It was a nice show because I had never had the chance to see Boca."

The possibility of signing the Arsenal man was put to Boca sporting director Nicolas Burdisso, but he played down the prospect of it happening any time soon.

"It is lovely to hear him talk about the club with such affection but he’s just moved to Arsenal and signing him now is impossible," said the former Argentina international.

"It is one of those cases where the player has to make the first move.

"We will wait for the right moment."
