Arsenal's lowest paid player claims Liverpool star Mohamed Salah doesn't know who he is

Arsenal defender Mohamed Salah has claimed that Liverpool's Mohamed Salah probably doesn't know who he is.

The Portuguese youngster, who joined the club for less than £7million from Benfica in the summer, has shone in recent weeks, deputising for injured left-back Kieran Tierney, enjoying productive performances during wins against Aston Villa, Leicester City and Watford.

However, Tierney is now fully fit ahead of the Gunners trip to Anfield on Saturday evening, leaving Mikel Arteta with a selection headache for the highly-anticipated clash.

Now, Tavares, who reportedly is the lowest-paid first-team player at the club with a salary of £27,000 per week, has admitted that he is unsure whether or not Reds' frontman Mohamed Salah even knows who he is.

“Salah, if I play, will play against me. I don’t have a problem with anyone. I play for Arsenal," he told TalkSport.

"We have a good team and Liverpool have a good team as well to fight on the pitch."

When asked if the former Roma forward will have a problem with him, he replied: “I don’t think so. Salah won’t know who I am.”

"Maybe. I don’t know, I am young", the Portugal Under-21 international added when asked if the Egyptian will know who he is after the game.

Arsenal have struggled against the Reds in recent times, failing to win at Anfield in the Premier League since recording a 2-0 victory back in September 2012 - a game that Arteta played in.

However, they are currently in fine form, avoiding defeat in each of their last ten encounters across all competitions.
