Arsenal's London derby dates for 2023/24 Premier League season confirmed with 12-game target

Arsenal were the dominant side in the capital during the 2022/23 Premier League season.

As runners-up to champions Manchester City the Gunners were the highest-placed London team and they managed to finish above Tottenham Hotspur for the first time since the 2015/16 campaign, with a massive 24 points ultimately separating the two rivals in the table.

Furthermore, Arsenal did not lose a single London derby in the season just gone. At the Emirates Stadium they recorded wins over Spurs, Chelsea, West Ham United, Fulham and Crystal Palace but were denied the full set having been held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford in somewhat controversial circumstances.

Although it was away from home where Mikel Arteta's side truly exerted their dominance. Following a comfortable 3-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, they, as a result, became the first Premier League side to win five away London derbies in a row without conceding a goal.

A run that began on the opening weekend of the campaign with a 2-0 win at Selhurst Park and then followed up a month later with a 3-0 success against the Bees before leaving Stamford Bridge and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all three points and a clean sheet intact.

However, the Gunners were denied win number six against West Ham in their final away London derby of the season. Despite racing into a 2-0 lead after 10 minutes they were pegged back in a fixture that proved costly in their hopes of being crowned Premier League champions.

With there being no change to London's representatives in the Premier League for next season, the challenge for Arsenal will be to go one better with regard to derby fixtures. Whether that is to win every single home game or go six for six on the road,

And they will not have to wait too long for the first London derby of the new campaign and once again it's away at Crystal Palace in gameweek two. That is swiftly followed by Fulham's visit to the Emirates Stadium and they host the first North London Derby in mid-September before trips to Stamford Bridge and the G-Tech Community Stadium.

The calendar year ends with a home game against the Hammers on Boxing Day - as was the case in the season just gone - and a trip to Craven Cottage. Interestingly, as things currently stand, the Gunners' first league game of 2024 sees them host Palace before visiting the London Stadium, facing Brentford and welcoming Chelsea in N5.

Arsenal's 12th and final London derby of the new season is against Spurs away from home and that could turn out to be a decisive fixture, perhaps with regard to the title race or a battle for Champions League qualification, considering it falls at the end of April.
