Arsenal's Kieran Tierney ruled out for over a month in major blow for Scotland

Kieran Tierney has been ruled out for four to weeks after sustaining knee ligament damage.

The Muirhouse man picked up the injury in Arsenal's 3-0 defeat against Liverpool on Saturday.

Although the 23 year-old doesn't require surgery, Scotland boss Steve Clarke will face an anxious wait to see if Tierney will return to full fitness ahead of this summer's Euros.

The former Celtic star was Scotland's standout performer in the recent World Cup qualifiers against Austria, Israel and Faroe Islands.

Tierney registered three assists in a man of the match display in the 4-0 win over the Faroes on Wednesday, March 30.

Scotland's first match in the Euros is on Wednesday, June 14 in just over eight weeks time so Tierney should return in time for the opening game of this summer's tournament.

A statement on the Arsenal website read: "Kieran sustained ligament damage to his left knee during Saturday’s match against Liverpool.

Surgery will not be required and it’s hoped that Kieran will be back in full training within four to six weeks."
