Arsenal’s Joel Campbell has signed a deal to join Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan.
The 24-year-old scored four times in 30 first-team appearances for Arsenal last year, having joined the club in 2011 and spending previous loan spells at Lorient, Real Betis, Olympiakos and Villarreal making this the fifth country he has played in since his arrival at the Emirates.
Sporting Lisbon finished second in the Portuguese league in 2015-16 and will offer Campbell Champions League experience. The move is subject to international clearance and formal ratification.

Arsène Wenger is under pressure from the club’s fans to spend money on bringing new signings into the club and after the 0-0 draw with Leicester on Saturday the manager defended his transfer policy.
“Why do you say I am reluctant? I don’t understand that,” said Wenger. “ If we find players who can strengthen our team we are not reluctant. I would spend £300m if I find the right player and I have £300m.
“Unfortunately, nobody speaks about the performance of Rob Holding,” Wenger went on. “You should be happy – he is English, he is 20. But I am sorry he didn’t cost £55m so he cannot be good. He had an outstanding performance for a young boy who has never played in the Premier League up against a great player. We don’t talk about the players any more. We speak about anything else than football.”
