Arsenal's former head of youth recruitment explains why he's "worried" about the club

Arsenal's former head of youth recruitment Steve Morrow says he worries about the club because of the amount of change it's gone through in recent years.

Morrow, 50, left his role during a shake-up at the Emirates back in 2019 alongside a number of other staff members.

He looks back on his time at Arsenal fondly and is proud of the part he played in modernising the club's youth structure, which is today respected around the globe.

But Morrow says he worries about the future of the north London club, which has gone through a lot of change in recent years.

He also doesn't like seeing a club the size and stature of Arsenal sitting in mid-table.

"It does worry me," Morrow told Goal. "When you have such an attachment to a club because you've spent so long there, you want it to continue to do well. But I definitely do worry for the club now because of the amount of change and transition it's had to go through.

"For it to continue to be successful, and to have the success that it did a number of years ago, is going to be a tough challenge.

"It's down to the people there now and the leadership that is currently there to steer the club in the right direction and I very much hope it can do that.

"They definitely face some challenging times and sitting in mid-table right now is not where Arsenal Football Club belongs. I'm sure they have ambitions to be back in the top four again soon, but it's going to be a big challenge to do that."
