In case you hadn’t realised, top flight football - and all other professional football in England - is currently suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.
One month ago, Liverpool were cruising towards a title, the top four remained in the balance, the relegation fight was heating up, and mid-table was mid-table.
Now, we face the very real possibility that this season may not come to an end at all. Premier League clubs joined forces on Wednesday to push for the football season to end by June 30.
With that in mind, how would Arsenal get on if they were to finish the season in such a rapid way?
Whilst we cannot know for sure at this stage, FiveThirtyEight have offered up their prediction on how the 2019/20 campaign will end.
The prediction model has the Gunners picking up just 13 more points between now and the end of the season to finish in ninth.
To make matters worse, they’ll fall two points short of Tottenham. To make matters even worse, they’ll miss out on a Europa League spot too.
For the optimists among you, according to FiveThirtyEight, the Gunners have a 4% chance of finishing fifth, and potentially stealing the last Champions League spot should Manchester City remain banned from the competition.
If City are successful in their appeal, then Arsenal have a 1% chance of nicking fourth spot.
Luckily, they have no chance of being relegated and only a 15% chance of finishing tenth in what could end up being a truly forgettable season for the club.
