Arsenal's boardroom shake-up continues as Gabriel opens up on his £25m transfer

Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Wednesday, September 2.

Boardroom shake-up continues

Ken Friar is set to step down from the Arsenal board to become life president at the Emirates Stadium.

The 86-year-old has worked for Arsenal since joining on a part-time basis at the age of 12.

Will Ainsley Maitland-Niles stay at Arsenal?

He began his employment as a box-office worker in 1950, progressing to the role of managing director in 1983, and he was an integral part in the Gunners' move to the Emirates Stadium.

Bayern among Bellerin suitors

Bayern Munich are the latest contender to target a move for Hector Bellerin.

The Arsenal right-back is said to be mulling his future after interest from Europe's top clubs, including Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

Whilst injuries have curtailed Bellerin's progress since signing a new contract in 2016, the interest of those three leading clubs shows how highly-regarded the 25-year-old is.

Gabriel's first words

Gabriel Magalhaes has credited the personal intervention of Mikel Arteta in convincing him to snub interest from rival suitors.

The Gunners have confirmed the signing of the Brazlian defender, who is still in quarantine having arrived from France last week to complete his medical.

He was not short of suitors but said Arteta and Edu were a big reason of why he chose to move to the Emirates for £25million.

"[Edu and I] had several chats about Arsenal and the new project, we had many good conversations," he told the club website.

"As the days went by I was getting very excited about it, then I had a call from the coach and that was very reassuring.

"Having the coach himself calling you to say he wants you in his squad motivates you a lot. That is the very reason I am here today."
