A chain of transfers could put a domino effect in motion which sees Arsenal sitting on the losing side, at the end of it all.
It all starts at Manchester United where Diogo Dalot is rumoured with a move away to the German side, Borussia Dortmund. The 22-year-old signed for the Red Devils from Porto £19million, three years ago.
Since then he’s seen a limited number of opportunities at Old Trafford, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka the number one option at right-back for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Dalot spent a season on loan at AC Milan, has garnered the Italian club’s attention with interest from Bayern Munich too. Dortmund are reported to want the player on loan with an option to buy next summer.
This all could nicely open up a gap in Solskjaer’s squad to allow Atletico Madrid’s, Kieran Trippier to make the move to Manchester. Eurosport reported that despite Arsenal’s ‘serious pursuit’ for the player, he would prefer a move to Manchester United.
Arsenal are unwilling to meet Atletico’s asking price of £35million for Trippier, hoping to negotiate and structure a deal that could be accepted.
Arsenal’s spending this summer sits at over £130million this summer, which has been dissected and criticised by fans and critics alike. This could the reason they want to slow the roll on any more transfers.
If Arsenal can’t secure Trippier this transfer window it could cause big problems in a squad that has already been ravaged by injured and positive Covid-19 cases.
Hector Bellerin is also reported to be pushing for an exit away from the North London club. The Spaniard has been at the club since 2011, but a string of injures has hampered his full potential.
Adding to Arsenal’s woes, Atletico Madrid are in talks with Lille player, Mehmet Zeki Celik who could be brought in to replace Trippier at right-back for Diogo Simeone’s side.
This transfer merry-go-round is pulled off by the respective clubs involved will leave Arsenal losing out.
