Arsenal's best XI if Raul Sanllehi signs Thomas Partey and striker Thierry Henry recommended

Arsenal have bounced back from their poor start to the restarted 2019/20 season with three wins in a row.

Victories over Southampton, Sheffield United in the FA Cup quarter-final and Norwich have given Mikel Arteta a platform with which to build upon as Arsenal look to end the campaign with a bang.

But whatever happens in the next month, the Gunners boss knows he has much work to do in the summer transfer window ahead of his first full season at the club.

Central midfield is thought to be a key area of concern, with a new centre-back also a possibility if the club can sell some of the current defenders.

Mikel Arteta on Thomas Partey and transfer plans

A big question mark hangs over the future of midfielder Lucas Torreira, with his agent admitting several months ago that his client is open to a return to Italy.

Dani Ceballos is also set to return to parent club Real Madrid after his season-long loan spell expires, and Arsenal do not seem likely to sign the Spanish international on a permanent deal.

This leaves a vacancy to be filled, with Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey heavily linked with a move to north London.

football.london understands the Ghana international is intrigued by the prospect of joining Arsenal, but the 27-year-old would not come cheaply.

In attack, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's contract situation rumbles on, with the Arsenal captain still to put pen-to-paper.

The striker's current deal expires at the end of next season, and the Gunners are in danger of losing the forward on a free transfer.

This has seen Arsenal exploring other options to either complement Aubameyang - or replace last season's Golden Boot winner long-term.

As reported by football.london, the Gunners have extensively scouted Celtic's Odsonne Edouard this season, with the 22-year-old former Paris Saint-Germain forward instrumental in the Scottish side's Premiership title success.

Edouard scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists in 27 league appearances before the top flight in Scotland was officially called off due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bhoys star could follow former teammate Kieran Tierney in swapping Scotland for north London this summer and former Rangers striker and manager Ally McCoist has previously revealed that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry rates him extremely highly.

"I spoke to Thierry Henry at the Liverpool vs Leicester City game and he really rates Edouard," McCoist told the Daily Record in March.

"He was saying in France in particular [Edouard is admired] and he personally really, really thinks he's got a chance of going right to the top."

If Edouard and Partey end up joining Arsenal, Gunners boss Arteta would theoretically have an easy decision to make in terms of fitting the pair into his team.

Partey would slot into the midfield pivot alongside Granit Xhaka, whilst Edouard would play in his natural number nine role, with Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe flanking the Frenchman.

Much depends on Arsenal's ability to convince Aubameyang to commit his prime years to the club, but Edouard's arrival could present Arteta with a ready-made replacement.

Best Arsenal XI with signings: Leno; Saliba, Luiz, Tierney; Bellerin, Partey, Xhaka, Saka; Pepe, Edouard, Aubameyang.
