Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of transfer deadline.
In terms of incomings, Willian has signed on a free transfer after his release from Chelsea, and made an impressive debut with three assists against Fulham on the opening weekend of the new season.
Gabriel Magalhaes joined from Lille to add quality to Arsenal's backline, Dani Ceballos re-joined on another season-long loan deal and Alex Runarsson will provide competition to Bernd Leno.
Despite the arrivals, it is understood Arteta is still keen on signing another central midfielder.
There is interest in Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey, but the Gunners would have to pay his full £45million release clause to sign him.
Another player on Arsenal's radar is Lyon's Houssem Aouar, who is fast becoming one of the most highly sought-after midfielders in European football.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has already confirmed that the Gunners have made a bid for the playmaker, but indicated that the offer was rejected.
"At Lyon there will be very few departures: for Houssem, Arsenal is much too far from his value," Aulas wrote on Twitter. "We count on him to make a big game in Lorient and lead OL in Champions League next year."
However, football.london understands the north London outfit are ready to increase their offer to £36.5million (€40million) with a further £9million in potential add-ons (€10million).
If Aouar arrives, the Frenchman is expected to compete for a place in Arsenal's midfield, with Arteta preferring to use either a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3 formation.
The 22-year-old would battle with Ceballos, Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Mohamed Elneny for a slot in the team, with Lucas Torreira expected to depart.
If the Gunners gets a deal over the line, Arteta's strongest XI could look something like this:
Arsenal XI : Leno; Luiz, Gabriel, Tierney; Bellerin, Xhaka, Aouar, Maitland-Niles; Pepe, Willian, Aubameyang. (3-4-3)
