Arsenal's best line-up next season if Edu completes £90m quadruple transfer swoop

Arsenal could be closing in on their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Midfield is an area in which the Gunners are looking to bolster ahead of the 2021/22 season with football.london revealing last month that one of the priorities is to retain the services of on-loan Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard.

But with the Norway international looking likely to remain in Spain, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will find himself needing to find a replacement for the no.10 role.

As a result, transfer chief Edu has turned his attentions to Norwich City playmaker Emiliano Buendia who is fresh off an outstanding season in the Championship.

As reported elsewhere and by football.london, Arsenal have made a bid which is believed to be in the region of £30million inclusive of add-ons in an attempt to prize the 24-year-old away from Carrow Road.

Following 15 goals and 16 assists in the Championship this season, Buendia could be the ideal signing for the Gunners this summer especially given the lack of chances created for captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Taking all the transfer rumours into consideration, it's likely that Buendia won't be the only new face arriving at the club before the 2021/22 season starts.

Midfielder Yves Bissouma has also been linked with a move to Arsenal, although Brighton and Hove Albion are said to be demanding a fee in the region of £40m.

Meanwhile, Andre Onana is on the Gunners' radar as a long-term replacement for Bernd Leno and could be available at a cut-price £7m fee depending on the outcome of his CAS ban appeal for a doping violation.

With that said, what would be Arsenal's best line-up under Arteta next season if Edu - in a dream scenario - was able to seal deals for Buendia, Onana, Bissouma and a new right-back in a £90m quadruple swoop?

Well, the latter could be the perfect partner for Thomas Partey in central midfield and allows Arteta to stick with the 4-2-3-1 system that has worked well since Christmas.

They would provide protection to a back five that includes Onana in goal, with William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Kieran Tierney, and a new right-back in £13m-rated Zeki Celik - who has been tipped to replace Hector Bellerin in the summer - in front of him.

Buendia can shine in the number 10 role behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Nicolas Pepe and Bukayo Saka on the flanks, so there is already more creativity amongst the front four.

The luxury of this dream line-up is the options Arteta would have in reserve.

Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe and have proven themselves to be capable of making an impact off the bench, so that gives Arsenal extra squad depth.

Arsenal's XI: Onana; Celik, Saliba, Gabriel, Tierney; Partey, Bissouma; Pepe, Buendia, Saka; Aubameyang
