Arsène Wenger has hinted Aaron Ramsey’s latest injury could have been avoided after confirming the Arsenal midfielder will be out until after the next international break.

Ramsey was taken off in the 57th minute of Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Bayern Munich with a hamstring problem. Wenger said on Thursday the 24-year-old has now had a scan but will not return for several weeks, while admitting his frustration that Ramsey played 90 minutes for Wales in their Euro 2016 qualifier against Andorra last week.

“He had a scan today but he’s out. I believe he will be out until after the next international break,” Wenger said. “With the [last] international break, the fact he played against Andorra certainly cost [Gareth] Bale and him as well.”

Everton manager Roberto Martínez says Arsenal will be full of confidence

Ramsey missed several weeks of last season with similar injuries but will be aiming to return for the trip to face West Bromwich Albion on 21 November.

Meanwhile, Wenger also confirmed the goalkeeper David Ospina will not return from injury until after the next international break, while Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Danny Welbeck will be out until the new year.

Wales will play Holland in a Cardiff friendly on 13 November as part of their buildup towards the Euro 2016 finals.
