Arsenal's abysmal away record against the Premier League big six laid bare after Man United draw

Arsenal don't have a great recent record when it comes to visiting teams in the big six in the Premier League.

The Gunners came away from Old Trafford with a 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Monday night, but things could have been different had VAR not been introduced to the league during the summer.

Unai Emery's men went into the half time break having just conceded a goal to go 1-0 down, as Scott McTominay's effort took a slight deflection and sailed past Bernd Leno and into the back of the net to give the home side the lead.

But in the second half Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did what he does best by putting the goal in the back of the net, only for the offside flag to curtail any celebrations. However, one VAR check later and the goal was awarded after images showing the striker being played onside by Manchester United defender Harry Maguire who didn't quite step up in time.

Chances for either team came and went, but the score remained the same as the full time whistle was blown.

The point moves Arsenal back into fourth place in the Premier League, but does extend an unwanted record hanging over the club.

As reported by Squawka, the Gunners have now gone 24 away games against the Premier League 'big six' without taking all three points.

The last time three points were taken was a 2-0 victory over Manchester City in January 2015, almost five years ago.

The run included 15 losses and nine draws.

The Gunners will have next have the chance to break that record when they visit Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in January.
