Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale relishing showdown with Man Utd star Cristiano Ronaldo - ‘I really hope he’s on it’

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is relishing a showdown with Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo next week.

The pair will go head to head on Thursday when Arsenal travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.

Ramsdale has made a fine start to life at Arsenal since joining in the summer from Sheffield United for an initial fee of £24million.

And now the goalkeeper can’t wait to test himself against Ronaldo, who returned to the Premier League this summer after leaving Juventus.

“I’d never thought I’d play against Ronaldo, but I really hope he’s on it against us because it gives me a chance to test myself,” said Ramsdale.

“As much as you want to go somewhere like that (Old Trafford) there’s no better feeling than getting on top of someone and saying I’ve had a full-on battle with Ronaldo.”

Arsenal made a shaky start to the season, losing their first three Premier League games, but they have bounced back since then.

They go into this weekend’s game with Newcastle, sat fifth in the Premier League and Ramsdale believes there is cause for optimism.

“You look at some of players over past few weeks who have even quite pivotal like Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka who are sort of kids,” Ramsdale added.

“We’re proving people wrong each week and aren’t putting a ceiling to where we can take ourselves and how well we can do.”

Aaron attended Amazon’s Black Friday Live, taking part in the Deliveroo Gaming Battle against music producer, Nathan Dawe, and hosted by Michael ‘Timbsy’ Timbs. To watch again, go to www.amazon.co.uk/blackfridaylive.
