Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale hoping for 'full-on battle' with Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is preparing for a 'full-on battle' with Cristiano Ronaldo when Arsenal play Manchester United.

Michael Carrick will take his second game in charge as United's caretaker manager against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, but Ralf Rangnick's interim appointment is now imminent and the German's first game is expected to be versus Arsenal on Thursday.

Arsenal sit three points above United in the Premier League and they could extend that lead against Newcastle this weekend.

Mikel Arteta has turned results around this season and Arsenal now appear to be contenders for Champions League qualification.

Ramsdale's form has played a key role in that and he looked ahead to Arsenal's game against United next week.

"I’d never thought I’d play against Ronaldo," Ramsdale admitted, speaking during a gaming event at Amazon’s Black Friday Live.

"But I really hope he’s on it against us because it gives me a chance to test myself.

“As much as you want to go somewhere like that [Old Trafford] there’s no better feeling than getting on top of someone and saying I’ve had a full-on battle with Ronaldo”.
