Arsenal's £30m man, former Celtic target early favourite for Swansea job - Championship rumours

Bristol City still have four pre-season games to go and just two weeks before the season starts but their search for a striker continues to be an arduous one with very little movement in the transfer market.

Robins manager Nigel Pearson has admitted he must sell before bringing anyone else in, adding a second challenging aspect to their transfer activity this summer.

But the market should pick up as the season draws closer and Premier League millions begin to drip down into the second tier and below and, with that in mind, here are the latest transfer rumours across the division ...

Howe early favourite for Swansea

Former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has been installed as the early favourite to take over from Steve Cooper with the 41-year-old set to agree to a termination of his contract at the Liberty Stadium.

Cooper is expected to depart before the weekend due to worsening relations with club hierarchy and frustration over his transfer budget for the summer having achieved back-to-back play-off finishes.

Howe has been out of work since leaving Bournemouth at the conclusion of the 2019/20 season and was reportedly close to take over at Scottish giants Celtic only for negotiations to collapse and the Hoops turn to Ange Postecoglou.

Howe is priced at 4/1 with former Chelsea and Derby County manager Frank Lampard at 5/1, then Alex Neil, John Terry and Neil Lennon all at 8/1.

Arsenal consider £30m swoop for Ramsdale

Arsenal's search for a second-choice goalkeeper and long-term successor to Bernd Leno has led to Sheffield United's England stopper Aaron Ramsdale, report talkSPORT.

The 23-year-old joined the Blades from Bournemouth last summer and was a regular under Chris Wilder and Paul Heckingbotham as they were relegated back to the Championship, however Ramsdale was then included in Gareth Southgate's provisional England squad for Euro 2020.

The Gunners have reportedly already had two bids turned down for Ramsdale but are ready to make a third with the fee reaching as high as £30m. Sheffield United are yet to bring in any reinforcements following their drop into the Championship.

Forest fail in striker bid

Nottingham Forest have been unable to bring striker target Sandro Kulenovic to the City Ground with the Croatian unwilling to move to England, claim Sportske.

Forest have been monitoring the 21-year-old for three years and had offered Dinamo Zagreb £2.5m but the player has no intention of playing in the Championship.

Forest's two frontline strikers Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor, who struggled in his first season at the club, are both in their 30s and Chris Hughton is keen to bring in some youthful reinforcements.

Blackpool's full-back chase

Blackpool look to have stolen a march on Huddersfield Town to sign Nottingham Forest full-back Jordan Gabriel, report Yorkshire Live, which means the Tangerines could end their pursuit of former Bristol City right-back Jack Hunt.

Gabriel spent last season on loan at Bloomfield Road and Neil Critchley is keen to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent basis having lost Ollie Turton to Huddersfield on a free transfer.

The Sun claim that Blackpool have tabled the first bid for Gabriel but the Terriers are in limbo as they wait to see what happens with Pipa, with the Spaniard set to leave the club this summer.

Should Blackpool sign Gabriel that could leave Sheffield Wednesday free to sign former Robin Hunt on a free transfer.
