Arsenal have revealed that their new signing Sakratis Papastathopoulos will wear the No 5 shirt when he begins his career at the Emirates, after he became the third signing of the Unai Emery era.
The 30-year-old defender joined from Borussia Dortmund on a long-term contract on Monday for an undisclosed fee and is expected to play a leading role in Arsenal's new-look defence.
The No 5 shirt was worn most famously by David O'Leary during the 1980, as well as Martin Keown during the Invicibles era, as well as Kolo Toure and more recently Thomas Vermaelen. The shirt was vacated when Gabriel Paulista left the club last summer.
