Arsenal renew interest in £51m striker as Mikel Arteta handed midfield injury conundrum

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines on Saturday, September 4.

Arsenal retain Isak interest

Linked with Arsenal throughout the summer, the Gunners just didn’t quite manage to get a deal signed off for Swedish forward Alexander Isak.

Nevertheless, Edu could potentially be set to try again for his signature sooner rather than later as the club attempt to find replacements for the aging Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal are the main party interested in a move for the Real Sociedad forward but it would take a considerable amount to prise him out of Spain, with the La Liga outfit valuing the striker at €60m (£51m).

Arteta handled triple midfield blow

From a player who could potentially be at the Emirates Stadium in the future to one who currently is, Mohamed Elneny has sustained an injury, the Egyptian Football Association has confirmed.

In a written statement, they announced that Arsenal made them aware of a problem that the midfielder picked up and he is unlikely to appear for his national team during the current break.

Depending on how serious the problem is, Mikel Arteta’s options in midfield could be severely limited with Granit Xhaka banned and Thomas Partey’s fitness remaining questionable.
