Arsenal release seven players including Ramsey, Lichtsteiner, Welbeck and talented youngster

Arsenal have confirmed the exits of seven players.

As expected, first-team stars Petr Cech, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck will leave when their contracts expire at the end of the month.

A short statement via the club's official website reads: "Our thanks and best wishes go to the following players whose contracts end with us on June 30:

  • Cohen Bramall
  • Petr Cech
  • Charlie Gilmour
  • Stephan Lichtsteiner
  • Julio Pleguezuelo
  • Aaron Ramsey
  • Danny Welbeck

"We thank them all for their contributions to the club and we wish them every future success."

Cech has already announced his retirement from professional football and is expected to take up a position at former club Chelsea in the coming weeks, while Ramsey has agreed to join Serie A champions Juventus on a free transfer.

Welbeck's departure was confirmed following the final home game of the Premier League season against Brighton and Hove Albion, while it remains to be seen what Lichtsteiner does next following a difficult one and only season in English football.

Julio Pleguezuelo has also found himself a new club, his move to Dutch outfit FC Twente was confirmed last month and he leaves after making a first-team appearance in the Carabao Cup win over Blackpool.

Cohen Bramall - who arrived from non-league outfit Hednesford Town in 2017 - didn't quite make the grade at the Emirates Stadium despite a loan spell with Birmingham City in the 2017/2018 campaign.

Last but not least, Charlie Gilmour has also been released.

The talented midfielder was first spotted by Arsenal when he was aged just six while playing in a football tournament and signed for the club's academy soon after.
