If Arsenal fans weren't already dreaming of winning the Premier League title, they might be now. It was the perfect Sunday for the Gunners, as Arsenal defeated Leeds United in dramatic fashion at Elland Road, with Manchester City then defeated 1-0 by Liverpool in the later game.
It was City's first loss of the season, putting an end to any talk that they could emulate the great Arsenal team of 2003/04 and go the entire campaign unbeaten. The results saw Arsenal go four points clear at the top of the league, having won nine of their first 10 fixtures for the first time ever.
Not many saw Liverpool's win over City coming, with the Reds out-of-form heading into the clash. Before the shock win, Liverpool had won just two of their nine league fixtures. The likes of Virgil van Dijk haven't been performing to their usual standards at the start of the season, but he managed to keep Erling Haaland quiet as Mohammed Salah scored the only goal of the game in Liverpool's win.

Despite the results, City still remain heavy favourites to win the Premier League title, but a four-point gap between first and second at this early stage of the season is a significant one. With over a quarter of the season gone, the Gunners are in pole position.
No doubt Mikel Arteta will continue to downplay his side's title chances, but he's certainly got Arsenal fans dreaming of a title challenge. Whatever happens from here, Sunday, October 16 was an afternoon where their title hopes took a big boost.
