Unai Emery could welcome back Lucas Torreira when Arsenal play Barcelona on Sunday.

The Uruguay midfielder is yet to feature in pre-season after having an extended break following the Copa America but he is back at the club and has trained this week.

Arsenal travel to Barcelona for their final pre-season friendly and the game at the Nou Camp is an opportunity for Torreira to get some action before the new season.

In another boost for the Gunners, Alexandre Lacazette has returned to training after his ankle scare against Lyon and is expected to be fit to face Newcastle next Sunday.

Lacazette left Emirates Stadium in a protective boot last weekend after twisting his ankle during the 2-1 defeat to Lyon.

Emery was upbeat on the striker’s fitness and tests this week have shown the injury is not serious.

Lacazette trained yesterday alongside Torreira and Mohamed Elneny, who has also joined up with Arsenal this week after playing for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.

New signing Dani Ceballos, on loan from Real Madrid, also trained yesterday with just over a week under Arsenal get their Premier League campaign underway at St James’ Park.
