Arsenal receive damning Stan Kroenke message before Super Bowl despite Mikel Arteta crunch talks

Stan Kroenke has been making the headlines recently due to his NFL team, the LA Rams, reaching the highly coveted Super Bowl.

The Arsenal and Rams owner was seen taking part in an interview after the NFL’s side recent victory, which is a sight that Gunners fans rarely see.

Despite Stan’s close relationship with the Rams, his careless nature as the owner of Arsenal Football Club was epitomised when Arteta had flown to Colorado to meet with the American businessman, instead of it being the other way round.

The pair were spotted at an NHL match between Kroenke’s Colorado Avalanche and the Chicago Blackhawks after Arteta was invited as a guest by Stan.

With the Super Bowl taking place on Sunday evening, myself and Umar Choudhry spoke with the CEO of Downtown Rams, Jake Ellenbogen on The Arsenal Way to get the NFL side's perspective on the owner.

Jake explained the potential reasoning behind Kroenke’s Arsenal neglect and how he views the 74-year-old.

“I like him [Kroenke] from the Rams perspective, but from what I’ve heard about him at Arsenal, I would not like him if I was an Arsenal fan,” he said.

“I understand Arsenal fans' frustration when they see what he is doing with the Rams, he’s not afraid to open up the chequebook for an Aaron Donald, paying him $20 million-plus per year you know, being okay with the trades they've made and having to pay their huge contracts when they are up.

“All of this star talent, I would be a little upset if I was an Arsenal fan seeing that. I'm like, wait, they're doing that over there with the Rams and the same owner is not doing this with Arsenal, and it has to kinda make you feel upset.”

Jake continued to explain how he believes Kroenke views the Rams in comparison to Arsenal.

“Kroenke has the money to do that so what's the deal? Is he just like a half-interested owner?

“Say you have three kids and the parents have their favourite and their second favourite, then the kid that is the runt of the family doesn’t get as much love - that’s how I kinda see Arsenal.

“Whereas the Rams are his baby right now, they are the money-maker, a massive market in LA and it is the first time a team has been in LA in over 20 years, so they are really trying to make this thing work.”
