Arsenal receive Calum Chambers, Emile Smith Rowe and Cedric Soares injury boosts

Arsenal have received positive injury news as their centre-back corps is expected to getting closer to full capacity in the coming weeks.

Currently, Mikel Arteta has just four [David Luiz, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding] of his eight options available to him.

While Sokratis who is back in full training and Pablo Mari who is expected to return shortly, there have been updates on his other two centre-backs.

Calum Chambers, who was one of the Gunners star men before Arteta's arrival, is now aiming to return to full training after the October winter break. He has been out since December, when he injured his ACL in the 2-1 home loss to Chelsea.

Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal: Mikel Arteta press conference

"Progressing well and now integrating into first team training sessions. Aiming to be back in full training with the squad after the October international break." a statement on the official club website read.

Joining the club in 2014 and having two loan spells in that time, Chambers' place at the club hasn't always been a certainty, especially with him played as a right-back, central midfielder and centre-back.

Upon his arrival last winter, however, Arteta made it clear that the defender was part of his plans in the heart of the backline.

"He's come a long way, I know him very well because we played together and shared the dressing room here," he told football.london in December.

"I always liked him with the attitude desire and his willingness to learn, I think he's come a long way. He seems excited, that's what I am feeling.

"[I see him "as a centre-back."

Elsewhere, Shkodran Mustafi appears to be close to a return after his hamstring injury in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, as he is also expected to return to full training after the October winter break.

"Progressing well and now integrating into first team training sessions. Aiming to be back in full training with the squad after the October international break." the statement continued.

Alongside this, Arteta will be encouraged by the return of Emile Smith Rowe, who is now back in full training after missing the start of the season with a shoulder injury.

He was out of his protective sling before the Premier League clash against Liverpool but this will serve as a major boost ahead of the Carabao Cup.

Cedric Soares is also back in full training.
