Arsenal receive another huge Bernd Leno injury boost to delight Mikel Arteta

Arsenal have received another major boost in regard to Bernd Leno as the club have confirmed he is aiming be back in full training before the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

The first piece of encouraging news following the German's collision with Neal Maupay against Brighton was that his knee injury was not as bad as first feared, as revealed by football.london .

"We thought it was going to be a more significant injury," Mikel Arteta said on June 23.

"We don't know the extent of the injury still but we know at least the cruciate ligaments are not damaged, which was the biggest fear at the start. He was more positive and in less pain today so that's good news."

Arsenal have also stated that Leno is "progressing very well in recovery" which will be welcome to all surrounding the club.

In his absence, however, Emi Martinez has more than proven his worth to Arteta and his staff with the performances he has produced since taking the No.1. spot.

The Argentine has kept three clean sheets in his five starts and has pulled off excellent saves, kept his concentration levels high and communicated well in each of his displays.

"That's what he's been trying to do for a long period now at the club," Arteta said on the 27-year-old's performances.

"As I said before, his preparation, his attitude has been spot on. He's been very respectful, very patient and now that he has the opportunity, he's grabbing it.

"At this level, it's not about two, three, eight or 10 games, it's about the consistency over a lot of games and that's what he needs to prove now."
