Arsenal ready to follow Kieran Tierney transfer blueprint as Mikel Arteta's summer plans emerge

Arsenal are 'competing' with Leicester City to sign promising Hibs youngster Josh Doig, according to a report.

The Gunners are looking for a back-up to Kieran Tierney in the upcoming transfer window as Mikel Arteta is set to make wholesale changes to his squad in the summer.

And football.london claim the Scottish left-back is a target for the Gunners, but they will face stiff competition for his signature with the Foxes also in the frame.

Doig has been a standout for the Edinburgh club this season as he helped Jack Ross' men finish third in the Scottish Premiership.

As a result of Doig's impressive performances, he scooped up the Scottish Football Writers Association Young Player of the Year award last week.

Tierney has been a massive hit at Arsenal since arriving two seasons ago from Celtic and it seems it's a blueprint they are trying to follow once again by landing one of Scotland's biggest prospects.

Doig would be the perfect understudy to the Emirates fan favourite and his addition would likely end Sead Kolasnic's time at the club who was on loan at Schalke this term as the Bundesliga side were relegated.

Ryan Bertrand is also reportedly an option after it was announced he will leave Southampton. Arsenal have also been linked with Norwich City rising star Max Aarons and Brighton's Tariq Lamptey.

Arteta is planning a summer rebuild and is already set to free up some wages with Brazilian duo Willian and David Luiz set to leave the club at the end of the season.

And it's said Arsenal will be in the market for five positions this summer as they want to bring in reinforcements at centre-back, central midfield and up front.
