Arsenal ready for Albert Sambi Lokonga exit as Burnley lead transfer race

Burnley are leading the race to sign Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga this summer.

The Belgian midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace and Arsenal are ready to let him go again in the current transfer window.

Another loan move could be on the cards, or a permanent sale, and Burnley are currently the favourites to sign Lokonga.

The newly-promoted Premier League side, who won the Championship title last season, are coached by former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany and he is driving the interest in his compatriot.

Kompany worked with Lokonga while he was in charge at Anderlecht and is keen on a reunion at Turf Moor.

Lokonga was tipped for big things when he moved to Arsenal from Belgium in an £18million deal in the summer of 2021, but he has struggled to break into the first team under Mikel Arteta.

Palace took him on loan in January, however former Eagles boss Patrick Vieira - now at Strasbourg - was the reason behind that move and he has since been sacked and replaced by Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park.
