Arsenal reach Isco transfer decision after Emile Smith Rowe sends clear message to Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly decided against making a move for Real Madrid star Isco due to the emergence of Emile Smith Rowe.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old midfielder for some time, but the Spain international remains at Real Madrid.

Arteta is said to be a big fan of the attacker and what he could potentially bring to North London if he were allowed to leave the Spanish capital.

However, AS report that Arteta has dropped plans to sign Isco after Smith Rowe sent a clear message that he could make an impact on the Gunners first team with a series of impressive performances.

The 20-year-old has had to be patient and bide his time to force his way into contention, but following Arsenal's disastrous start to the season Arteta has placed his faith in the youngster.

Smith Rowe has started three consecutive games for the Gunners, all three of which have been victories against Chelsea, Brighton and West Brom.

Sevilla's interest in a deal for Isco has also reportedly played a part in Arsenal's decision, with the Gunners opting not to engage in a bidding war against a team where Julen Lopetegui is in charge.

The Spanish coach is said to have a good relationship with Isco, which could prove decisive in where he plays his football should he leave the capital.

Arteta said after the win against West Brom that his side are starting to play how he wants them to, with Bukayo Saka and Smith Rowe giving the team a boost of energy in attack.

"There were moments that I think we were really, really good," he told reporters.

"Both defensively and offensively. Obviously in attacking phases we had moments where it’s exactly what I want, it’s exactly what we tried to train and teach the players to do.

"In general it’s close to what we want."
